Will everything be covered in one consultation?
In some cases it is possible to discuss the problem and design a treatment plan in just one session. Further training sessions can be booked if you wish for support implementing the treatment plan. However, many clients find that they prefer to begin the first steps of the treatment plan and then book a follow-up consultation. A follow-up consultation provides clients with feedback and an opportunity to discuss the treatment plan so far; the final stages of the treatment plan can then be discussed in some detail.
It is not necessary to decide whether you want to break the consultation into 2 sessions in advance. Most clients decide when discussing the treatment whether they wish to break it into 2 sessions.

What happens after the consultation?
A detailed report will be sent to you explaining everything we discussed during the consultation. The report will include a very clear step-by-step treatment plan and information sheets. You are welcome to discuss any queries you have by telephone or email; however, if you need more help with the treatment plan then it is possible to arrange a training session.
How quickly will I see results?
A treatment programme will be designed to suit you and your pet's needs. Some methods used in the treatment plan will work very quickly whilst others may take some time. Consider that your pet may have had the problem for a considerable length of time and it will therefore take time, effort and commitment from all the family to change this behaviour. The best results are seen when owners work slowly and thoroughly; contrary to what you may have seen on the TV. I provide telephone and email support for 6 months after the consultation so you can discuss your progress or any problems you encounter along the way.
I don't have much time and need quick results; is behaviour therapy for me?
Yes; all treatment programmes are designed to suit the owner's need. During the consultation you will be given the opportunity to explore possible treatment plans and their outcomes; and decide what you want to achieve and how much time and effort you want to invest. Whilst not ideal, it might be possible to employ instant strategies which avoid the problem rather than improve it.
Most change occurs through knowledge; therefore even when owners cannot achieve their ideal expectations, they can at least understand the problem and how best to avoid or manage the problem.
